 Colt Creek State Park
Do you enjoy the outdoors, breathing in the fresh air, and soaking up the sun while being surrounded by nature? Then you will love Colt Creek State Park.
Colt Creek became Florida's 160th state park in May 2006. Colt Creek’s 5,067-acres are home to many animals including white-tailed deer, turkey, bobcat, fox squirrel, alligators, and wading birds.

There are many fun activities available at the park. If you've never heard of Geo caching, it's similar to a scavenger hunt. You find trinkets and small items that others have left behind with permission. You can ask for approval to leave behind a trinket of your own for other visitors to discover.

Other activities include biking or hiking. Make your way through pine flat wood, cypress domes, and hardwood hammocks. Mountain bikes are recommended for bicycling, or you can hike the 12-miles of trails instead. Colt Creek is also popular for its many campsites. It has 26 full-facility campsites possible for rent. If you're in the mood to camp primitive instead of in one of the full-facilities, Colt Creek offers a handful of campgrounds without running water or electricity. Not basic enough for you? Throw in a portable toilet. Equestrian camping is also available.

If you enjoy fishing, then you're in luck. Colt Creek has three lakes for fishing ranging from 2 acres to 25 acres. Catfish, largemouth bass, and bluegill are some fish you can catch. Fishing license may, but not always, be required.

In 2008, they designated the park on the Great Florida Birding Trail. With its 150 bird species, birding has become a major activity in Colt Creek. Other activities include horseback riding, paddling on its two lakes, picnicking, weddings, and wildlife viewings. Colt Creek State Park is perfect for any person.
