Crooked Lake Wildlife and Environmental Area

Crooked Lake Wildlife and Environmental Area
Located on almost 1,150 acres with marked trails, Crooked Lake Wildlife Management and Environmental Area is great for hiking. It is an unstaffed park but is free for all users. However, parking is not that spacious so be cautious. There are no maps available so consider bringing your own. No hunting is permitted on the property.

There are 6 marked trails and many more that are unmarked and able to be discovered. The trails range from sunny to partly shaded. They go through pine flatwoods, basin swamp, sandhills, hardwood forest and through scrub. There are plenty of opportunities to see rare plants and animals all throughout the trails.

Along with the trails there are other recreational opportunities. Bicyclists are able to enjoy their own trails designed to take you on a ride through the different ecosystems.

Horseback riding is also allowed, there is a specific horse gate that begins the trails. Due to Florida law any rider under 16 is required to wear helmets. West of the horse entrance is a water faucet for multi purpose uses.
