Florida Air Museum

 Florida Air Museum
Florida Air Museum started out as a mini museum in 1986 in Hanger A. Gradually over the years the museum expanded and officially opened to the public April 1992 during the SUN ‘n FUN Fly-in. The mission behind Florida Air Museum is to support, educate, and engage with the next generation of aerospace professionals.

The institution offers interactive STEM activities and family-friendly discovery areas. The Aviation Hall of Fame is dedicated to those who have made significant achievements in civil, military, or aerospace. When visiting the Florida Air Museum, you will learn about aviation history such as the world's first scheduled commercial passenger flight. Exhibitions include the interactive Leading Edge, where visitors can explore examples of pitch propellers.

Explore the Howard Hughes exhibit to find memorabilia including flight gear, awards, personal artifacts, and more. The Florida Air Museum is only one in a handful to have an exhibit devoted to Howard Hughes and his aviation career.

The Discovery Zone has a dress-up station, creative coloring booth, and STEM games to stimulate and educate. Engines through the past century are collected and placed on display in Innovations in Propulsion. Static Display, Midcentury Innovations in Aviation, and Air Show Performers and Pioneers are a few additional exhibits to visit.

Check the website regularly as exhibits change. They often hold events including fly-ins. Group visits are welcome, annual membership is offered, or general admission daily rates. If you’re a lover of aviation, you’ll enjoy visiting the Florida Air Museum. It’s also a great and educational experience for those that don’t love aviation.
