Lake Wales History Museum has over 20,000 items in its collection, so much, that 60% of the museum’s collection has been inventoried and stored in an off-site location.

Artifacts, images, documents, and more help to educate the museum’s visitors. While visiting the museum you will learn about the history behind Lake Wales and its development through the years ranging from Florida’s natives, to the first businesses, the railroad, and important dates leading up to present day.

One of the newest features at Lake Wales History Museum is the audio tour which officially launched in 2018. Using the audio tour, guests can hear over 80 stories about the pioneers and history behind Lake Wales. Three of the fascinating exhibits in the museum include a 1926 Seaboard Air Line Railroad caboose, the 1916 office car and 1944 US Army locomotive engine.

Lake Wales History Museum offers field trips for k-12th grade school groups and outreach programs for all ages. Students 15 and older can volunteer at the museum working on collections, special events, and visitor services. Workshops and events for all ages are also available.
