 Tenoroc Public Use Area
The Tenoroc Public Use Area is commonly known for the recreational opportunities including fishing, picnicking, paddling or canoeing, a shooting sports center, hiking and bicycling, horseback riding, and wildlife fishing.

Tenoroc Lake is one of Florida’s leading bass fishing spots. Phosphate mining from the 1950s to the 1970s created borrow pits. These pits are now specifically designated fishing areas for fly fishing, competitive fishing teams, and bank fishing. All of these areas are full of largemouth bass, bluegills, and shellcrackers.

All visitors are required to check in at the headquarters. Anybody that is fishing must deposit their value fishing license with the custodian. Each lake has quotas and fishing is only permitted in the designated lakes. All largemouth bass must be released immediately.

Since 1983, Fish and Wildlife biologists have managed the fish species for the different lakes. There are two types of challenges while fishing. First, is reclaimed lakes that have sloped shorelines and multiple types of vegetation. The other is unreclaimed lakes that are brush covered shorelines, steep banks, and a green watercolor.

There are guided bass fishing trips that give you the chance to catch trophy bass. Contact local wildlife officials for more information.

Not only does it offer fishing, there are two hiking loops that have 5.4 miles of trials. They both link with the Saddle Creek that is south of the main trials.

Horseback riding has two loop trails that are designated only for riding. Any rider under 16 are required to wear helmets.

There is space for trailing parking. Visitors are able to use canoes or kayaks where boats are allowed, however there are quotas on the amount of vessels per lake. There are also specific trails for exploring with canoe or kayaks.

There are several shooting ranges as well. There is trap/skeet and sporting clay stations and 3-D archery ranges. The Sports shooting facilities hours are different than the Fish Management Area.
