 Wonder House
Taking his wife and nine children to Bartow, Conrad Schuck used his architectural knowledge and fortune to build his four-story dream home. When excavating the house, Schuck realized he was digging into bedrock. The house has 18 inch thick walls on the ground level, aside from the imported tiles and steel rails Schuck used to reinforce the home, it is made almost entirely from the land.

The Wonder House is an amazing residence built by a man with vision. The Wonder House has eighteen rooms with three full baths and two half baths. Each room has at least four handcrafted doors.

Doctors told Schuck that his days were numbered with only a year to live, resulting in his move to Barstow and the creation of his beautiful and now historic home. Despite the doctor's diagnosis, Schuck lived an additional 40-year.

In 1964, The Wonder House was purchased by the DuCharme family who completed its construction. The Wonder House gives historic tours, but only by online reservation.
